Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Safely and efficiently operating a company-provided medium-sized van (up to 3.5 tonnes) for multi-drop delivery routes across Edinburgh and the surrounding region.
- Loading and unloading goods securely, ensuring all items are handled with care to prevent damage, and completing necessary paperwork such as delivery notes and PODs (Proof of Delivery).
- Conducting daily vehicle checks (TYRES, OIL, WATER, LIGHTS) and reporting any defects or maintenance issues immediately to the transport manager.
- Providing excellent customer service during deliveries, representing both the client and Staffing Agency professionally at all times.
- Adhering strictly to all road traffic laws, driving regulations, and company policies regarding safety, speed, and vehicle use.
- Planning efficient delivery routes, sometimes with the aid of a sat-nav or route planner, to meet strict delivery time windows.
- Assisting with occasional light porter duties at collection and delivery points, which may involve moving items to a designated storage area.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
- A full, valid UK driving licence (Category B) with a maximum of 6 penalty points and a clean driving record is essential.
- Proven experience as a Van Driver, courier, or in a similar multi-drop delivery role. Experience with Edinburgh city centre routes is a significant advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of the Edinburgh road network, including an understanding of congestion zones, parking restrictions, and efficient routes.
