Physiotherapist Job Description – Wakefield WF1
We are seeking a Chartered Physiotherapist to join a respected multidisciplinary team in Wakefield. This role involves providing high-quality, evidence-based musculoskeletal (MSK) and/or neurological physiotherapy to a diverse caseload of patients. The position is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about patient-centred care, enjoys working autonomously within a supportive framework, and values the flexibility that agency work can provide. The client is a well-established provider known for its excellent facilities and commitment to staff development, making this a prime opportunity for both newly qualified and experienced physios looking to expand their clinical portfolio in the Wakefield area.
By applying through Staffing Agency, you gain direct access to this and other unadvertised physiotherapist vacancies across Wakefield WF1 and West Yorkshire. We streamline the process, handling all the paperwork and negotiations, so you can focus on what you do best: delivering exceptional patient care. Our deep understanding of the local healthcare landscape, from NHS trusts to private clinics, allows us to match your skills and preferences with the ideal setting. Whether your career goals involve specialising in sports therapy, elderly rehabilitation, or paediatric care, we have the connections to help you find the right fit, much like we do for roles ranging from a Handyman to a Warehouse Manager in other sectors.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose musculoskeletal, neurological, and respiratory conditions, creating individualised treatment plans.
- Deliver hands-on physiotherapy interventions, including manual therapy, electrotherapy, and tailored exercise programmes, monitoring and documenting patient progress meticulously.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, consultants, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated patient care.
- Provide expert advice, education, and self-management strategies to patients and their families to facilitate long-term recovery and prevent re-injury.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely patient records in line with HCPC standards and local clinical governance policies.
Essential Skills & Qualifications Required
- Fully qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Proven post-graduate experience in a relevant clinical setting, such as MSK outpatients, neurology, elderly care, or community physiotherapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds and explain complex conditions simply.
- A proactive, flexible, and professional attitude, with a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and evidence-based practice.
Salary, Pay & Benefits Package
We believe in recognising and rewarding clinical expertise. For this Physiotherapist position in Wakefield, we offer a highly competitive hourly rate of £26 to £32 per hour, paid weekly directly into your bank account. The exact rate is dependent on your specific experience, specialisms, and the requirements of the shift. In addition to the attractive pay, you will benefit from:
- Weekly Pay: Reliable, on-time payments every week without exception.
- Flexible Working: Choose shifts that suit your lifestyle – full-time, part-time, weekend, or evening cover.
- Temp-to-Perm Potential: Many of our temporary placements lead to permanent offers from the client, providing excellent job security.
- CPD Support: Access to training opportunities and resources to further your clinical career.
- Dedicated Consultant: A single point of contact who understands your career goals and the local Wakefield healthcare market.

Frequently Asked Questions (Physiotherapist Jobs Wakefield)
How quickly can I start this Physiotherapist job in Wakefield?
We are recruiting for an immediate start. For candidates with all compliance documents (HCPC, DBS, right to work) ready and available, we can often facilitate a start within 48-72 hours of application. The process is designed for speed without compromising on quality or suitability.
Do I need a specialist DBS check for this role?
Yes. As this is a patient-facing healthcare role, a valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service is essential. If you do not have a current one, we can guide you through the application process swiftly. This is a standard requirement, similar to checks needed for our school admin jobs or care home positions.
Is this a permanent or temporary position?
This specific vacancy is initially a temporary placement with a clear view to becoming permanent for the right candidate (temp-to-perm). It offers the flexibility of agency work with the security of a potential long-term role. We also have permanent physiotherapist jobs available – discuss your preference with your consultant.
What kind of clinical settings will I work in through Staffing Agency?
We partner with a wide variety of providers in Wakefield and across Yorkshire. This includes NHS hospital trusts, private clinics, community rehabilitation teams, sports facilities, and care homes. Your dedicated consultant will work with you to match you with settings that align with your expertise and career interests.
Are there opportunities for newly qualified Physiotherapists?
Absolutely. While some roles require post-graduate experience, we frequently have positions suitable for newly qualified physios seeking their first role or looking to gain broad experience. We provide support and can help find placements that offer good supervision and learning opportunities.
How does the pay compare to direct NHS employment?
Agency hourly rates are typically higher than the equivalent NHS band pay to account for the flexible nature of the work and the fact that certain benefits (like pension contributions during short assignments) may differ. The competitive pay rates we offer (£26-£32 p/h) often provide a strong financial incentive, coupled with the flexibility to choose your hours. For a detailed comparison of agency vs direct hire, our insights on comprehensive staffing solutions can be useful.
