Key Responsibilities of a Food Service Assistant

As a Food Service Assistant, your day will be varied and fast-paced. You will be an essential part of the service team, supporting everything from preparation to presentation. Key duties include:

• Meal Service & Customer Interaction: Serving meals, beverages, and snacks to customers in a polite, efficient, and friendly manner, adhering to portion control and presentation guidelines.
• Dining Area Maintenance: Setting up and clearing dining tables, ensuring they are clean, well-stocked with cutlery and condiments, and ready for the next service. This includes operating dishwashers and managing waste.
• Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance: Rigorously following all Food Safety (HACCP) regulations, including maintaining correct temperatures for food displays, completing cleaning schedules, and ensuring personal hygiene standards are met at all times.
• Kitchen & Servery Support: Assisting with basic food preparation under the guidance of a Head Chef or kitchen supervisor, such as preparing salads, sandwiches, and cold buffets, and restocking service counters.
• Team Collaboration: Working effectively as part of a larger team, liaising with kitchen porters, wait staff, and supervisors to ensure a seamless service from kitchen to customer.
• Stock Control: Assisting with receiving deliveries, rotating stock (FIFO), and reporting low stock levels of essential items to the supervisor.
