Key Duties & Responsibilities

• General Cleaning: Performing daily and periodic cleaning of classrooms, hallways, staff rooms, offices, and common areas to a high standard, including dusting, wiping surfaces, and emptying bins.
• Sanitisation & Hygiene: Thorough cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch points such as door handles, light switches, stair railings, and shared equipment to minimise the spread of germs, a critical task in any school environment.
• Floor Care: Vacuuming carpets, mopping hard floors, and spot-cleaning spills. Some roles may involve operating industrial floor cleaners or carpet shampooers after training.
• Toilet & Washroom Maintenance: Ensuring all student and staff toilets, washrooms, and changing facilities are cleaned, sanitised, fully stocked with supplies, and odour-free throughout the day.
• Waste Management: Collecting, segregating, and disposing of general and recycling waste from designated points across the school premises, adhering to the school's recycling policy.
• Window & Glass Cleaning: Cleaning interior windows, glass partitions, and display cases to maintain a bright and clear environment.
• Stock Monitoring: Informing the site supervisor or our agency contact when cleaning supplies are running low to ensure continuous service delivery.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Adhering to all COSHH regulations, safely storing cleaning chemicals, and reporting any maintenance issues or hazards (like wet floors or broken furniture) immediately.

Ideal Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Proven Experience: Previous commercial, office, or school cleaning experience is highly advantageous, but we also welcome applications from reliable individuals with a strong work ethic looking to start a career in this sector.
• Reliability & Trustworthiness: As you will be working in sensitive environments around children, a current, clear Enhanced DBS check is essential. We can assist you in obtaining one if needed.
• Physical Fitness: The role involves bending, lifting (within manual handling guidelines), standing, and moving equipment. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
• Time Management: Ability to work efficiently within set timeframes, often during specific windows before school starts, after it finishes, or during evening shifts.
• Team Player & Independent Worker: Must be able to work effectively as part of a cleaning team under a supervisor, as well as independently when managing your own designated areas.
