Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Performing all aspects of groundworks including excavation, trenching, and backfilling using both manual tools and powered equipment.
- Assisting in setting out sites from basic drawings under the direction of a site supervisor or Warehouse Manager on larger logistics-linked projects.
- Installing drainage systems, ducting, and laying concrete for foundations, slabs, and oversites.
- Constructing formwork, kerbs, edgings, and paving to specification, ensuring high standards of finish.
- Operating plant machinery (with relevant tickets/CPCS) such as dumpers, rollers, and small excavators, and conducting daily safety checks.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy worksite in compliance with all health and safety regulations, including wearing correct PPE at all times.
- Working effectively as part of a team, liaising with other trades such as plant operators, steel fixers, and general labourers.
- Loading and unloading materials, handling resources efficiently to minimise waste and support site logistics.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Groundworker on UK construction sites, with a solid reference history.
- A valid CSCS Card is essential. CPCS or NPORS tickets for relevant plant machinery are a significant advantage.
- Strong understanding of health and safety protocols, with a commitment to safe working practices.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour in all weather conditions.
